Middle West Spirits celebrates 10th anniversary with packaging re-design.

MiddleWest.jpgThis year marks the 10th anniversary for Middle West Spirits, one of Central Ohio’s original craft distilleries. Part of the celebration includes launching a refreshed brand that better reflects where the company is today, and where it’s going.

“It’s sometimes hard to believe we’ve been at this for 10 years,” says Brady Konya, co-owner and general manager of Middle West. “A milestone like this is a natural place to reflect and renew – on our past work, lessons learned, and new paths to be forged. We’ve grown a lot in over the past 10 years and it felt like this was the perfect window to re-imagine our brand through fresh, forward-looking eyes. “

The team at Middle West Spirits worked closely with Columbus-based Mynte Design Co. to develop a new brand platform that included an evolved brand identity and a complete label redesign for Middle West’s full line-up of vodkas and whiskeys. A new website is underway with plans to launch in early 2019.

“Our work focused on elevating both the intentional way Middle West makes products and its foundation here in the Midwest,” says Jenn Stevens, owner of Mynte Design Co. “Living here is about having a full, rich life, and the Middle West experience reflects that. The new packaging highlights this in an elegant way, and we love how it extends across the brand.”

As part of the new brand strategy, Middle West’s family of spirits will be divided into three sub-brands:  OYO will remain the namesake for the company’s signature vodkas, Middle West Spirits will represent the line-up of whiskeys, and the company’s gin will remain branded with the Vim & Petal name. Each brand has its own unique label and bottle profile.

Columbus-operated Anchor Hocking was instrumental in creating new glass profiles for the vodka and whiskey lines – a design process that lasted over a year.

“Having the opportunity to partner with Middle West to create new premium spirits bottles has been an exciting project,” says Brett Fulford, executive vice president, Specialty Business Unit, The Oneida Group.  “We really took the time to think through every detail and make the bottles as unique and memorable as possible. From the imprint on the shoulders to the initials stamped on the bottom, we worked together to create something that feels both modern and classic.”

New packaging will start hitting state agency shelves throughout Ohio in mid-September. The company will also be hosting a series of Anniversary events for customers through the end of the year. Middle West fans can follow social media for event details.
