Jimmy’s No. 43 Launches Spirit Council

Jimmy’s No. 43, in Manhattan’s East Village, is launching “Jimmy’s Spirit Council,” a series of monthly tastings in support of hand-crafted spirits, artisan foods and the people who talk and write about them.

Every month the bar and eatery will pair a selection of spirits tastings with foods, farmers and/or authors. The events will feature leaders in the spirits industry, with a special emphasis on New York spirits alongside a selection of outstanding domestic brands, as well as international favorites, to create a well-rounded, year-long calendar of tastings.

First up is the launch event on Saturday, Jan. 28th, from 4-6 pm. Upcoming pairings will feature:

  • Jimmy’s Spirit Council Launch Party on Saturday, Jan. 28: with El Buho Mezcal, Catsill Provisions Honey Whiskey and McKenzie Rye Whiskey
  • High West Dinner with Eliza Czander on Thursday, Feb. 9
  • An Irish Spirits St. Patrick’s with Jeff Cioletti—that’s me—(date TBD) in March
  • East Meets South – NY State Bourbon Pairing with Lew Bryson on Tuesday, April 4

Owner Jimmy Carbone has grown the bar’s spirits menu over the past year. “This is a great opportunity to add another amazing offering to the Jimmy’s brand,” he says. “We’re bringing some of my favorite local artisan spirits to our establishment and the experts I enjoy being around.  It’s a win/win for everybody!”

About Jeff Cioletti

I’m Jeff Cioletti and The Drinkable Globe marries my two greatest passions: fine drink and travel. The search for the former usually drives the latter. I'm the author of The Drinkable Globe, Beer FAQ and The Year of Drinking Adventurously. I'm the former editor-in-chief of Beverage World magazine and a regular contributor to publications such as SevenFifty Daily, Beverage Media, Artisan Spirit, Draft Magazine, FSR, All About Beer Magazine and BevNet. I’ve been interviewed on beverage-related topics for CNN, Fox Business News, CNBC, Beer Sessions Radio, Canada's ROB TV, NPR, BBC World, BBC Radio, The Associated Press, The New York Post, Financial Times, Investors Business Daily, Advertising Age, WCBS-TV and several other media outlets. Beyond the journalism gig, I’m also a filmmaker; I wrote, produced and co-directed the feature film, “Beerituality,” a comedy set in the world of craft beer. The film is available on at http://www.storenvy.com/products/510365-beerituality-dvd and can be streamed and downloaded at amazon.com
