Jimmy’s No. 43, in Manhattan’s East Village, is launching “Jimmy’s Spirit Council,” a series of monthly tastings in support of hand-crafted spirits, artisan foods and the people who talk and write about them.
Every month the bar and eatery will pair a selection of spirits tastings with foods, farmers and/or authors. The events will feature leaders in the spirits industry, with a special emphasis on New York spirits alongside a selection of outstanding domestic brands, as well as international favorites, to create a well-rounded, year-long calendar of tastings.
First up is the launch event on Saturday, Jan. 28th, from 4-6 pm. Upcoming pairings will feature:
- Jimmy’s Spirit Council Launch Party on Saturday, Jan. 28: with El Buho Mezcal, Catsill Provisions Honey Whiskey and McKenzie Rye Whiskey
- High West Dinner with Eliza Czander on Thursday, Feb. 9
- An Irish Spirits St. Patrick’s with Jeff Cioletti—that’s me—(date TBD) in March
- East Meets South – NY State Bourbon Pairing with Lew Bryson on Tuesday, April 4
Owner Jimmy Carbone has grown the bar’s spirits menu over the past year. “This is a great opportunity to add another amazing offering to the Jimmy’s brand,” he says. “We’re bringing some of my favorite local artisan spirits to our establishment and the experts I enjoy being around. It’s a win/win for everybody!”
